Keep a customer's card on file
Customers save a card while they pay or from a link you send. You charge it later with a description they see on their receipt.
Updated
Cards on file are part of Pro and Business, and need Stripe or Square connected under Payment methods.
Let customers save a card
- Open Get Paid → Card payments → Settings.
- Turn on Card payments: Offer it to show a "Save my card" box at card checkout.
- For bookings, choose Offer or Required. Required means they keep a card on file to book.
- Write what you may charge it for, like "The balance after your session, or a $25 fee for cancelling within 24 hours." The customer agrees to these exact words.
Or ask for a card
On Card payments, tap Ask for a card, enter their name and email, and send. They get a link to add a card. Nothing is charged. (With Square, cards are saved when the customer pays.)
Charge a saved card
Tap Charge next to the card, enter the amount and what it's for, review, and confirm. They get a receipt by email. If the card is declined, you can send the same amount as an invoice instead.
Each card keeps a record of what the customer agreed to, when, and from where. Tap Consent to see it. That record also goes into any dispute answer.
The card itself is kept by Stripe or Square, never by Utilica. Only charge for what the customer agreed to.
