Service Terms
These terms cover two things you can buy from Utilica itself: a store built for you (“done for you”), and a custom domain. They are part of our Terms of Service, and you agree to them when you place an order. Version 2026-10-22.
1. What’s included
The work has a fixed scope. What it includes is listed when you order and on your order page:
- Custom store ($149): a store designed for your brand (not a template), your products moved over from your current store or a spreadsheet (up to 100), 3 rounds of changes, first look in 10 business days.
- A domain, if you add one: bought or transferred in the same checkout, priced as in section 9.
- Managed ($39 a month), once your store is handed over: up to 5 change requests and 20 new products a month, each request done within 3 business days.
Moving products over covers what your current store lets us copy: names, photos, prices, options and stock. Anything else (more pages, more products, featuresUtilica doesn’t have, work outside Utilica) is not included. We’ll tell you if something you ask for is outside the scope, and what it would cost, before doing it.
Everything is built with Utilica’s own site builder, so you can change any of it yourself afterwards. We don’t write custom code that only we can maintain.
2. You need a plan
Done-for-you stores and custom domains are for accounts on Pro or Business. Your site keeps working the way it was built only while your account is on a plan that includes what it uses. If you move to a plan without a feature (for example publishing a website, or a custom domain), that feature stops working until you move back. Nothing you made is deleted.
3. Payment
- Work starts only after you pay. You can pay the whole price, or 50% when you order and the rest when you approve the finished site.
- If you pay in two parts, your site is handed over to your account once the second part is paid.
- Managed is billed monthly, in advance, on the card you subscribe with, until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next charge; the month you paid for runs to its end.
- Prices are in US dollars and include everything we charge for the work. Card payments are taken by Stripe.
4. What we need from you
After paying you fill in a brief: your business, what you sell, your style, your products and anything we should know. The turnaround starts when the brief is complete. Please send content you have the right to use (photos, logos, product descriptions, music, other people’s work). You’re responsible for what you send us and for what your store sells. If we’re waiting on you for more than 30 days, we may treat the order as finished with what we have, and hand it over.
5. Rounds of changes
When your site is ready we send you a link to look at it. A round of changes is one list of changes you send us at once; we make them and send it back. Your order says how many rounds are included; we’ll quote any more before doing them. Changes that would make it a different project (a new layout, a different template, a new set of products) count as new work, not a round.
When you approve the site, the work is finished. Small fixes to something we got wrong are always free.
6. Turnaround
Turnaround is counted in business days (Monday to Friday) from a complete brief to your first look. Each round of changes is usually done in 2 to 3 business days. These are our promise, not a guarantee: if we’re going to be late, we’ll tell you, and you may cancel for a refund of the work not yet done.
7. Cancelling and refunds
- Before we start building (while your order says “Tell us about your business” or “In line to start”), you can cancel for a full refund.
- Once building has started, what you’ve paid covers the work done. If you cancel then, we refund what isn’t yet earned: at most the amount above 50% of the price before your first look, and nothing after it.
- Managed can be cancelled any time; charges already made are not refunded, except where the law says they must be.
- Ask for a refund by messaging us from your order page or emailing support@utilica.app. Refunds go back to the card you paid with.
8. Who owns what
- Your content (your name, logo, photos, words and products) stays yours. You give us permission to use it to build your site.
- Once your order is paid in full and handed over, the site is yours: it sits in your account and you can change, copy or delete it.
- Utilica’s templates, sections and builder stay Utilica’s. You can use them on Utilica for as long as you have an account.
- We may reuse the layout and design ideas of a site we built, with your content taken out (no names, logos, photos, words or products of yours), as a template for other Utilica users. We won’t show your finished site as an example of our work unless you tell us we can.
9. Custom domains
- A domain bought through Utilica is registered in your name (the contact details you give) through our registrar, Vercel. Its price is the registrar’s price plus 20%, shown before you pay, for registering, transferring and each renewal.
- Domains renew each year on the card you paid with, about 30 days before they expire, at the renewal price at that time plus 20%. You can turn renewal off on your Domains page; the domain then lapses at the end of its year. If a renewal charge fails and isn’t paid before the domain expires, the domain may be lost.
- Domain payments are not refundable once the domain is registered, because the registrar doesn’t refund us. If a registration or transfer can’t be completed, you get your money back in full.
- Transfers are done by our team, usually within 5 business days of your request, and need the domain to be unlocked at its current registrar with a valid transfer code. A transfer adds a year to the domain.
- You can move your domain away from Utilica at any time: ask us for its transfer code. A domain you connect but keep elsewhere stays entirely with your own registrar.
- Registries’ and ICANN’s rules apply to every domain, including keeping your contact details correct.
10. Limits
We build your store with care, but we don’t promise any level of sales or search ranking. Our total responsibility for any order is limited to what you paid for it. The rest of our Terms of Service, including its limits of liability, applies.
11. Questions
